Next.jsShopify Storefront APIReact

CyberTeleshop

CyberTeleshop, an established Pakistan general store handling a deep catalog and high media volume, was struggling with a massive 30-second initial page load delay on their monolithic Shopify Liquid theme. This severe performance lag caused paid traffic from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) campaigns to bounce before rendering, inflating their Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) and bleeding ad budgets. We decoupled the presentation layer from Shopify’s backend, building a high-speed headless React/Next.js frontend optimized for edge-network rendering, slashing load times to sub-2 seconds and stabilizing their ad algorithm.

Pain Points

The Challenge

eCommerce retail relies heavily on visual trust and high-end details. However, dynamic interactions, massive media assets, and deep custom catalog structures can slow down load times. Here were the core bottlenecks:

1

The Shopify Liquid theme was too heavy and caused slow server-side and client-side rendering.

2

Initial page load times were reaching up to 30 seconds because of the large catalog, multiple product variations, and too many app scripts.

3

Paid Meta traffic was bouncing almost immediately, which wasted ad spend and made scaling the campaigns difficult.

Implementation Strategy

Our Solution

By restructuring the liquid theme, reducing third-party scripts, and custom designing the storefront UX for speed and layout flow, we eliminated transaction hurdles.

Headless Commerce Decoupling

Decoupled Shopify to handle backend utilities (inventory, orders, checkout) while building a React/Next.js frontend served over Vercel Edge for instant rendering.

Visual Viewport Prioritization

Optimized initial page load by prioritizing visual viewport assets, implementing responsive images, lazy-loading heavy media, and deferring non-critical app scripts.

First-Fold Layout Standardization

Redesigned the landing page to load the hero banner, price tags, and the primary 'Buy Now' CTA immediately above the fold to capture immediate speed gains.

"Migrating our storefront to a headless Next.js architecture eliminated the performance issues that were slowing our growth. Pages now load almost instantly, especially for visitors coming from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads, creating a faster shopping experience and improving ad performance. As a result, our campaigns have become more stable, customer acquisition costs (CPA) have dropped significantly, and we now have a scalable, high-performance ecommerce foundation that supports continued growth and higher advertising budgets."
